DOMAIN NAME REGISTRATION

We offer simple UK and US domain name registration with no quirks. Registereing a domain name could be a valuable investment. It has the same characteristics as real world property but it's in a different format. A domain address is more than 3 dimensional. Begin to realize the true possibilities and opportunities a good domain name could present. It is INSTANT MARKET SHARE. Domains have and will continue to go up in value faster than any other commodity EVER known to man."

.co.uk and .org.uk

£20+VAT per name for 2 years payable immediately by cheque (longer payment terms cost £25+VAT) and £20+VAT for any future renewal fees in 2 years.

.com, .net, .org

£50+VAT per name for 2 years payable immediately by cheque (longer payment terms cost£60+VAT) and £50 for any future renewal fees.

FUTURE COST

You own the name - there are no hidden future costs. Costs may be incurred if you request transfer of the name to another ISP. Experience shows that the work involved in this varies between 5 minutes and 2 hours. Many other companies charge a fixed fee of £90 to update the user name or transfer it. We will charge only the time involved at our current hourly rate.

PAYMENT TERMS

Please note that the domain will not be released to you until you have paid the registration fee.

DOMAIN NAME PARKING

The registration costs include parking the domain name on our servers. If you want hosting they see the hosting section for costs on that.

In the near future we hope to offer an online registration service - but for now please email with your requirements.

PERSONAL DOMAIN NAMES

Have you considering registering a personal domain name for your family e.g. www.thesmiths.org.uk or www.thejones.co.uk? This means you never give out a name such as jimjones32@cs.com - which is tied to Compuserve. You only give out your personal email address ever and direct jim@thejones.co.uk to jimjones32@cs.com. You pick up your email from whichever dial up provider you use at that point in time. Deals and service vary a lot so to get the best deal and service you need to keep moving around to get the best ISP dial up service whether it is cable, BT, compuserve, freeserve etc. When you change you don't have to change the email address - only where it is directed to. This gives you total portability and flexibility as to who you host with and/or connect with.

TIPS WHEN CHOOSING A DOMAIN NAME

  1. Check your spelling. It sounds simple, but it is crucial.
  2. Keep it simple. A complicated URL or one with commonly misspelled words (such as "rhythm") will only cause headaches for users and for yourself.
  3. Make it relevant. Your domain name should be directly related to your site.
  4. Don't "cybersquat." Don't register a company or person's name as a domain with the intent of returning it for money. Legal precedent has proved this does not work.
  5. Don't include special characters. These include exclamation marks (!), underscores ( _ ), 'at' signs (@), asterisks (*), and slashes (/). These are not recognized as legitimate addresses.
  6. Make sure you like the name you register. Once it's registered, you can't change it.
  7. Register as many variants of your name as possible. This includes plurals, hyphens and other domain extensions, like .org and .net
  8. Be patient. The process of registering a domain name that is recognized across the Internet can take up to 48 hours.
  9. Have a few alternative names on hand. Thousands of domain names are registered each day - the one you want may not be available.
  10. Be sure you know something about the ocmpany you are registering your domain name with. There are a lot of companies offering apparent cheap domain names. However, if you have a problem or want to transfer the name expect to spend many hours on the phone trying to get hold of someone. There are also some companies with really difficult terms of business that you only discover when you want to move your domain name! You have been warned!
